Huntington Theatre Company will present Foundry playwright MJ Kaufman’s new play Murmur Rock in their 2014 Summer Workshop series.
Summer Workshop is a two-week new work retreat culminating in public readings of the plays in development. The Workshop is modeled after the Sundance Theatre Lab and is an extension of the Huntington’s Playwriting Fellows program and Breaking Ground Reading Series. Huntington Director of New Work Lisa Timmel and Huntington dramaturg Charles Haugland support the writers during the intensive, artist-driven development process, and the festival is produced by Huntington Associate Producer M. Bevin O’Gara. (from HuntingtonTheatre.org)

An American family is determined to have a fun vacation reconnecting with their roots in a small German village, but it’s hard to have fun when nothing goes as expected. Grandfather’s house is gone and the family graves aren’t in the cemetary. Why are all the tour guides so weird? Is this even the right town?

South End / Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA
Murmur Rock was also presented this summer at the Wild Project, as part of the Summerworks festival, and at the Jewish Plays Project, as part of the OPEN festival.
