InterAct Welcomes New Core Playwrights Sam Henderson and James Ijames

We are pleased to announce that Foundry playwright Sam Henderson and Foundry mentor James Ijames have been named InterAct Core Playwrights for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons.

The InterAct Core Playwrights Program offers developmental support to four talented Philadelphia writers. The program is a two year journey designed to bring exceptional local playwrights closer to their full potential: one-on-one dramaturgy, monthly developmental readings, and specialized workshops, all culminating in staged readings each June.

Sam and James will join 2013-2015 Core Playwrights and Foundry members Jeremy Gable and Emma Goidel.

Sam Henderson is a Philadelphia actor and 2nd year Foundry member. Productions: His work has appeared at the Plays & Players 2013 24-Hour Play Festival and the 2014 Solow Festival. Readings include the 2013 215 Festival, Writer’s Night In America, and the 2014 Philadelphia New Play Initiative Local Writer’s Weekend. He is a first-year member of Interact Theatre’s Core Writer’s Program 2014-2016.

James Ijames is a Philadelphia-based actor and playwright. His plays include The Most Spectacularly Lamentable Trial of Miz Martha Washington, Moon Man Walk, The Threshing Floor, and Osiris:Redux. …Miz Martha was developed with PlayPenn and the Wilma Theater and received its world premiere with Flashpoint Theater. His play Moon Man Walk received a reading with Azuka Theater Company.
